EIT UM malta_newlogoThe EIT Urban Mobility RIS Hub Malta is the local contact point of EIT Urban Mobility, a European-wide knowledge and innovation community established by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), which addresses how people move around in Europe’s towns and cities and proposes solutions for the benefit of both residents and the environment. The EIT Urban Mobility RIS Hub Malta is run by a consortium of three local partners: Project Aegle Foundation as the lead partner, MCAST – the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology, and the Valletta Design Cluster (through the Valletta Cultural Agency).

Using cities as living labs, its industry, research, and university partners demonstrate how new technologies can work to solve real problems in real cities by transporting people, goods, and waste in smarter and more sustainable ways.

In order to support the vision of creating more liveable urban spaces, the EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) is designed to disseminate knowledge, know-how, good practices as well as to encourage the participation of organisations in EIT Urban Mobility’s activities. The Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) targets European countries that have been identified as emerging or moderate innovators on the European Innovation Scoreboard, which includes Malta. Therefore, the EIT Urban Mobility RIS Hub Malta has been created to support innovation, education, business creation in Malta in the field of urban mobility. The Hub is also the contact point for knowledge sharing, awareness-raising, and networking on the topic of urban mobility at the national level.
