The MCAST Staff Committee and the Chaplaincy organised this year’s Christmas mass and activity for staff members. This activity was an opportunity to bring everyone together before the holidays.

An increase in staff participation in all aspects of the celebration marked this year’s Christmas Mass. Preparation started two months earlier, and participants were roped into the various tasks that made for a great occasion for the community.

College Chaplain Fr Antoine Farrugia, who celebrated mass together with Fr Richard Ebejer, said: “In particular, the band and Choir enriched the occasion with good use of the musical talents those present were endowed with and which then were put to good use in the animation of the Eucharistic celebration which highlighted the particular aspects of the nascent Church as recounted in the bible story and how even today all of us have a role to play in the story of salvation, through which we become conscious of the nearness and action of God in our lives. People’s comments suggest that a renewed vigour and fraternity are springing up among the staff teams that make up our MCAST community, and this augurs well for the coming New Year.”

The Staff Social Committee also greeted attendees with a variety of Christmas sweets. This event was the Committee’s final activity for the year. The Committee was launched earlier this year, in May 2022, to create opportunities for all the staff to acknowledge and further strengthen links with colleagues beyond their usual sphere through social networking activities. Chairperson Sandra Cortis said: “The enthusiasm and participation by staff members are immensely encouraging. The activities such as this Christmas gathering aim to create a sense of belonging and enhance innovation, teamwork, and cooperation at MCAST.”

The Carols Programme included the participation of the ICed Team Band and Kristy Borg, Tama Tnabar, the Indian Community representatives and a brass band formed by five members of staff. The bandisti team was coordinated by MCAST Deputy Principal Dr Mario Cardona. The Choir, made up of staff members, was coordinated by Jacqueline Micallef Grimaud and James Aldric Perry.
