Open Weekend at the MCAST Institute of Agribusiness

Between Friday 28 and Sunday 30 May 2010 the College will be organising an Open Weekend at the Institute of Agribusiness, Luqa Road, Qormi. The aim of this Open Weekend is to provide prospective students and their parents with a clear idea of the various learning and training opportunities and resources available at the Institute of Agribusiness. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn more about the multi-functional role of agriculture through the variety of planned activities. These comprise apiculture, environmental management sessions, a fancy poultry and rabbit show, guided tours to the animal husbandry units and cultivated fields, a display of hydroponics as well as a variety of horticulture activities including floriculture, crop and herb production. Pet owners are encouraged to bring their pets over to the Institute for free grooming. Several products grown at the Institute will be on sale during the Open Weekend. These include honey, marmalade and jams, carob syrup, traditional Maltese herbs, fresh vegetables, black Maltese chicks, live rabbits, gerbils and dwarf rabbits. The opening hours are as follows: Friday 28 May from 9.00am to 2.00pm, Saturday 29 May from 10.00am to 1.00pm and 4.00pm till 7.00pm, and Sunday from 9am till 6pm. Entrance is free of charge and childcare activities will be organised. Career Guidance Officers will be available during the Open Weekend to provide information on the MCAST courses.
