MCAST LIBRARY GENERAL RULES

Students can borrow up to three items for three weeks at a time. Academic staff can borrow up 6 items for four months at a time. Please return the items in time, or there will be a fine of €0.12 (5 cents) per item borrowed for every library open-day.

Only registered users can borrow items. All items that can be borrowed have to be first checked out and registered at the counter downstairs. Failure to do so will trigger off the security alarms.

Items used in the library or borrowed for home use should be handled carefully so as to ensure that they are not damaged or dirtied. Writing of notes on books in ink or pencil is not allowed.

The library is divided into two main areas: one is for work in groups, the other for individual studying in silence. So when working in groups be aware of the noise level! Please keep your mobile phones on silent!

No food or drink is allowed within the library and bags have to be left at the allocated room near the entrance. It is entirely your responsibility to ensure that no valuables are left in this area.

Recent issues of journals and all videos, DVDs and reference books cannot be taken out of the library.

Books removed from shelves should be left on table or trolley. They will be re-shelved by library staff.

Surfing the net is allowed but you cannot navigate to objectionable sites, download programmes, music or play games. (If in doubt ask.)
