MCAST will be initiating a number of courses part-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF). The projects consist of foundation
and re-skilling courses aimed at persons over 25 years of age, wishing to return to the workforce or interested in further developing
and upgrading their employability skills. The courses offered include:
Reskilling & Retraining in the Mechanical Engineering Industry (CNCs)
This course is aimed at mature persons with a mechanical background wishing to upgrade their skills in machine engineering materials using
CNCs equipment. It will lead to an international recognised qualification issued by the Engineering Marine Training Authority, UK.
Reskilling & Retraining in the Electronics Industry
This programme is designed for persons with an electronic
background wishing to obtain an internationally recognised vocational level 2 qualification.
Building and Construction
This training programme will offer insight into the building and construction industry with special emphasis on
scaffolding and rigging. It is
intended for persons who are good at heights and interested in working within the industry.
Preservation of Traditional Maltese Crafts
This foundation course is aimed at those wishing training in pottery and filigree. It will provide candidates with
entrepreneurial skills to
encourage self-employment within the traditional crafts sector.
Employability Skills for Women Returning to the Workforce
This programme is targeted at women interested in
returning to the workforce and wishing to gain an internationally recognised certificate
in ICT and basic customer service. The courses will be time-tabled keeping in mind mothers with young children.
Caring for the Elderly
This foundation programme is designed to provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required at an operational level within the growing care sector.
