Course Description
The programme provides an opportunity to school leavers in possession of the School Leaving Certificate to follow a structured programme of study in an area which is close to their interests.
The programme includes vocational practice and this will help students to get a better idea of the nature of this calling. This course provides the basic skills necessary for further training.
You will be required to sit for tests in Maltese, English and Mathematics. Following these tests, MCAST shall draw up a list of those who are found to require significant help in their studies. These learners will stand to benefit by joining the Foundation Course at Vocational Level 1 instead. This is a one-year course which is intended to help the students to progress to the Foundation Course at Level 2 the following year.
Assessment
The course will be assessed as follows: Assessment mainly takes place by means of assignments which will assess care theory and care practice as well as key skills. Assessment will also take place within work placement settings. Key skills are assessed via time-constrained assignments and home based assignments
