Interview

The MCAST-BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production opens up a range of pathways leading to careers within the Television and Media sectors. Examples of areas that media students may go on to work in are film, interactive media and television.

This two-year programme gives you a broad introduction to the various aspects of audio-visual production. It provides you with a solid foundation in the underlying theories, while also covering practical areas such as audio, camera techniques and video editing. Knowledge and technical competences are linked through a number of assignment briefs, which shall give you the opportunity to apply learnt theories to practical audio-visual production work.

This programme is delivered over a series of practical workshops and theoretical lectures. Learners are often required to work in teams for the completion of their projects and assignments, which generally are based on real life cases. Media students have the opportunity to use latest industry-standard camera and editing technology.

Media students are assessed on their knowledge and practical learning skills in media studies. Learners are assessed against set criteria provided in a number of assignment briefs, for which they have to present evidences to support achievement of key competences.
