Course Description

This course is the first step in a block of a three year training programme, designed to provide the necessary skills to work in the Computing Industry.

At this level of study, you will be introduced to fundamental subjects in both the networking and the software development areas. You will also be given the opportunity to upgrade your key skills.

The course is a pre-requisite for the follow up two-year Level 4 Extended Diploma programme, which we strongly recommend if you intend to embark on a career in IT.

Study/Course Delivery

The course is based on in-person training by qualified lecturers and is a mix of lectures and supervised practical work both in class and in specialised labs whenever necessary. A student is expected to do a significant additional study work at home. Additionally key skills subjects: Mathematics and Science, English, Maltese and Civic Competencies are also taught.

Assessment

Assessment of each module is based on a system of continuous assessment through various numbers of assignments. The assignments can be home or class. Each assignment tests a number of criteria covered during lessons. To successfully complete the course a student must pass ALL Pass criteria from all assignments. Two attempts are allowed for each assignment.
