Study/Course Delivery

Students are also given the opportunity to follow an apprenticeship to improve their hands-on experience. To experience the importance of good construction site management, supervised vists to complex construction sites are organised during the course.

Assessment

This course is mainly assessed by means of formative feedback throughout the year. Learners will be expected to perform practical tasks and written assignments as part of their assessment. Additionally summative forms of assessments, such as examinations and tests are scheduled throughout the year.

Programme Learning Outcomes

Carry out a risk assessment of the immediate working environment before and after executing an assigned task
Produce simple patterns, developments and templates to fabricate from thin steel plates
Identify materials and compare their properties
Carry out Oxy-Acetylene Gas Welding, Manual Metal Arc Welding and Metal Inert Gas Welding
