Course Description

This three-year vocational course in Industrial Electronics provides candidates with the knowledge and skills required by the manufacturing and services industry. The course emphasis is on electrical and electronics engineering but a number of modules contain elements of software engineering, giving students sufficient knowledge to consider careers in other related technical fields.

The challenging and dynamic world of electronics, mechatronics and communications engineering offers excellent career growth opportunities and the diploma is widely accepted by the local industry.

Assessment

The purpose of assessment is to ensure that effective learning has taken place. All units for this course are locally assessed. Students will sit for interim and annual examinations and will also be given constructive feedback and guidance in practical and theoretical assignments during each academic year.

Programme Learning Outcomes

1. Work safely, communicate effectively and take responsibility of own and others’ work in engineering
2. Apply mathematical and scientific principles to solve engineering problems
3. Construct, test and maintain complex analogue and digital electronic circuits and systems to required specifications
4. Programme and test Microcontroller and Programmable Logic Controller circuits for industrial applications using both low and high-level languages.
