Course Description

This MCAST-BTEC programme is your first step in the BTEC system to embark on an engineering career. This course provides a practical, work related course. Learning takes place by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

It covers the basic knowledge and practical skills, providing a good foundation for future career opportunities in engineering. You will be exposed to a wide knowledge in related subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Drawing and Information Technology.

Study/Course Delivery

The Diploma in Engineering is a 60-credit and 360-guided-learning-hour qualification that consists of three mandatory units plus optional units that provide for a combined total of 60 credits

Assessment

The course will be assessed as follows: Tutors are expected to observe and report about learners progress. Learners will be asked to fulfil and implement a number of assignments. The assignments can be research assignments where the students will be allowed to prepare these without invigilation, or they can be class or laboratory / workshop assignments where the work will be monitored whilst it is being performed. To ensure quality, assignments will be validated by qualified third parties.
