MAINTENANCE GRANTS

All apprentices are entitled to a maintenance grant and stipends.

The maintenance grant is of €93.17 Lm40 per month for at least the first three years of an apprenticeship (where applicable). The stipends vary according to the year within the apprenticeship that the apprentices spends on-the-job training.

Apprentices are also entitled to half the annual statutory bonus.

Weekly rates of N.I. contributions paid by the apprentices once on-the-job training are:

Under 18 years - 10% of weekly wage up to a maximum of €3.96 - Lm1.70.

Over 18 years - 10% of weekly wage up to a maximum of €8.62 - Lm3.70.

Hours of work shall not exceed the ordinary hours applicable at the employer’s establishment. No employer shall engage an apprentice in overtime work without the written consent of ETC. Apprentices who absent themselves, without valid reason, from school or workplace will have their stipends deducted and after a reasonable period of time will be considered as having abandoned the scheme.

Sick Leave
Bereavement Leave
Marriage Leave
Injury Leave
