| Project Summary |
During the placement the tutors and administration of the Art and Design Institute had the opportunity to see the modern multimedia facilities and to participate during mater classes which were delivered by the Forth Valley tutors. Several meetings were held between the Director of the Art and Design Department and Forth Valley College, Cathy Snedden and the Maltese beneficiaries, during which relevant issues were discussed. The concerned multimedia development opportunities and barriers, hardware and software applications, educational resources, tried and tested methods of teaching and learning, verification of standards, development and operating costs, exchange of professional information and know-how and curriculum-based resources. Other matters concerning guided learning and formal instruction were also discussed at length. During the visit the tutors had the opportunity to witness first-hand activity-based learning methods as opposed to traditional formal lectures.
The beneficiaries also had the time to visit several art museums and other places of interest during the placement, such as the Hunterian's Mackintosh House of Art, the Lighthouse Art museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Edinburgh Castle amongst others.
This visit was co-financed by MCAST and the Leonardo da Vinci programme.
