Event Cedefop Study Visit
Date 23rd - 27th May 2004
Beneficiaries Ms Joyce Shepherd Thorn, Director Information and Support Centre
Project Summary

Ms Joyce Shepherd Thorn, MCAST Director Information and Support Centre, represented MCAST in this 4-day visit to Nurnberg which included participants from Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Denmark and Luxembourg. The purpose of this study visit were to share best practices about consultation and guidance available for education and further training and to share experiences from the different participating countries. The focus was on vocational aspects of education and further training for young school leavers and to a lesser extent for the older adults. The study visit included visit to the Research Institute for In-Company Training, different industries, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, a hauptschule (school for low achievers), a job information centre and a trade union. Ms Shepherd Thorn comments: "It was interesting to note that for a small country like Malta we do have a good number of practices and potentially best practices when compared to places like Germany. Even the work we do in schools to promote vocational training compares very well".
