Project Summary

The Lisbon strategy has set the priorities for this project. The development of life long learning has been set as the key to achieving the aim of "becoming the most dynamic and competitive knowledge based economy in the world by 2010". MCAST, as Malta's prime vocational training provider, is a key player for the Maltese economy when it comes to training and re?skilling of Maltese employees.

This project, with the input of our international partner, Adam Smith College, has explored the innovative methods in the promotion of lifelong learning in the industry and to observe structures and training solutions for needs experienced in the industry.

Through this project transfer of knowledge has taken place between a successful organization, like Adam Smith College, about successful techniques and working methods in the promotion of the concept of retraining and re-skilling of employees in small and medium enterprises.

The beneficiaries for this project were four MCAST staff members already involved in the area of adult part-time and ad hoc training. The development of the "Training for Industry" concept was crucial for the development of MCAST as a community college where individuals and organization come together to create knowledge group that will benefit both employees and employers.
